Judas Priest put out a brand new album this year, “Redeemer of Souls,” that snagged the group its highest-ever Billboard chart debut, at No. 6 in July and on Monday, November 10, 2014, Judas Priest unleashed their Redeemer of Souls tour on Los Angeles to a sold out crowd at the Nokia Theater.  An excellent return to all that was great about classic Priest and proof that Priest can still call themselves metal’s defenders of the faith.

The evening began with a set by Steel Panther as everyone was rushing to find their seats.  Steel Panther started the night off with Pussywhipped, and followed up with Party Like Tomorrow Is the End of the World, the anthem off of their new CD, All You Can ing as Nokia Theater lowered the Judas Priest banner as the entire audience sang along to Black Sabbath’s “War PiEat.   With the crazy energy and show only Steel Panther could deliver, they were the perfect choice to open the show.

The anticipation in the audience was overwhelming as Nokia Theater lowered the Judas Priest banner as the entire audience sang along to Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs”.

The show opened with my favorite song off the new Redeemer of Souls CD, Dragonaut, a high energy fast paced song that really fired the crowd up and the band proved they are still the Gods of Metal to the frenzied metal crowd.  The show included songs off of the new CD as well as their classic metal. Highlights included Halls of Valhalla, Redeemer of Souls and March of the Damned.  Other highlights included Halford driving his Harley on stage for Hell Bent For Leather and the audience a capella sing along with Halford. The dual guitar work of Glenn Tipton and Richie Faulkner was flawless and the band was on fire. Faulkner has proven to be a worthy successor to Downing. A great night for Los Angeles, with Halford telling the crowd “We will be back!”
