Deicide Concert Review-Nile Theater Mesa, AZ 10-01-24

As October arrives, scorching summer temperatures above 100 degrees still prevail in Mesa, AZ. However, that didn’t deter the metal enthusiasts from gathering outside the historic Nile Theater on this Tuesday evening.

Death metal legends Deicide rolled into town for their Banished By Sin-North American Tour, accompanied by heavyweights Cloak, Inferi, and Krisiun. This tour was in the midst of an intense stretch, performing their 25th show in just 28 days, with their last break occurring eight nights earlier! Despite the demanding travel schedule and performances that are as blistering as the Arizona sun, all four bands delivered and scorched the Nile Theater stage!
Following three incredible sets from the opening acts, the rowdy Mesa metalheads eagerly anticipated the arrival of the legendary Deicide to arrive on stage! The band was met with thunderous applause as the they launched into a no-frills setlist filled with some of their heaviest tracks from the last three decades. I refer to it as a no-nonsense set because Deicide wasted no time on filler or small talk, ripping through their 16-song lineup with minimal breaks. Fans enjoyed selections from six different albums, with the latest release, Banished By Sin, prominently featured through five songs. A massive circle opened up as the “pit warriors” charged around the floor in a whirlwind of energy. The show’s intensity was driven by thunderous blast beats, colossal guitar riffs, and piercing harmonic solos that erupted from their Marshall amplifiers! This flawless combination of deep growls and high-pitched screams undoubtedly thrilled every type of death metal vocal enthusiast!
The audience was treated to an exhilarating night of high-octane aggression, with each band delivering powerful performances. This tour is certainly a must-see for fans of Death Metal and heavy music! The level of musicianship that was showcased, was impressive from beginning to end. There are still several dates left on this tour as they make their way back east across America! Be sure to follow their social media, grab your tickets, and save the date to enjoy this unforgettable night of Death Metal! Don’t forget to wear your dancing shoes and shoulder pads; the pit promises to be a blast!
