Korn Achieves Sell-Out Success with over 20,000 Attendees at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater on 10-03-24 in Phoenix, AZ; now that’s how to celebrate a 30th anniversary concert!

Korn has long been recognized as a pioneer of nu-metal music since their self-titled debut album in 1994. Never looking back, the band continues to forge ahead with remarkable success and energy in 2024; that’s undeniably impressive!
On this milestone anniversary tour, Korn was joined by two fantastic supporting acts: the renowned French metal giants Gojira and the rising Canadian band Spiritbox. Check the Gojira review with photo gallery here!
Spiritbox kicked off the show, but unfortunately, I was not afforded the opportunity to catch or photograph their performance; hopefully next time.
Gojira put on an Awesome show, Check out the Gojira Featue with photo gallery here!
As Korn prepared to take the stage, the venue was illuminated solely by the glow of attendees’ cell phones. All eyes were fixed on the stage, filled with anticipation for the band’s entrance. A large, nearly opaque black curtain concealed the stage, teasing the audience with glimpses of vibrant lights flickering behind the dark veil, accompanied by a monologue echoing through the PA system.
As the curtain remained in place, the band launched into a powerful rendition of “Here To Stay” from their acclaimed 2002 album, Untouchables. When the curtain finally fell, the band appeared, and the fans instantly connected with the stunning visuals and sounds of Korn. The Talking Stick Resort transformed into a massive choir, every time lead singer Jonathan Davis offered his microphone to the crowd, their voices filled the venue.
For the next ninty minutes Korn proved without a doubt that NU-Metal Music is still alive and well in 2024. Their first six songs were all from the LPs, Follow the Leader, Life is Peachy and their debut self titled LP; all of which were recorded in the 90’s. These Phoenix fans knew the band’s entire catalouge as they could be heard singing to every song which was a theme that continued for the band’s entire show. Korn are living proof that some things just get better with time. As one of the enduring pioneers of the NU-Metal gengre these guys sounded as fresh as they did when they first started out; and they’re still delievering the goods on every level.
The last time I saw Korn was prior to the Covid pandemic. Knowing that Davis faced significant challenges due to illness, I was thrilled to finally see him perform. Let me tell you, Davis was absolutely in his element! The singer smoothly shifted from his usual nasal tone to powerful growls and soaring falsettos, leaving no room for doubt about his incredible talent. The musicians in the band delievered an equally outstanding performance, with the two seven-string guitarists, James “Munky” Shaffer and Brian “Head” Welch, producing sounds that occasionally echoed keyboard influences. Meanwhile, the rhythm section, consisting of bassist Reginald “Fiedly” Arvizu and drummer Ray Luzier, combined to create a powerful low-end assault that enhanced their intricate rhythms perfectly.

The band’s performance included a total of fourteen songs in the main set, followed by three encore tracks, making it seventeen songs that merely scratched the surface of their vast catalogue.
Given the extensive nature of their music, not every fan favorite can be included in a single performance. Thankfully, they treated Phoenix fans to beloved hits such as “Here To Stay,” “A.D.I.D.A.S.,” “It’s On,” “Blind,” “Clown,” “Shouts and Ladders,” “Make Me Bad,” and “Y’All Want a Single.”
For the song “Shouts and Ladders,” singer Davis fired-up the audience by brandishing a set of Scottish-style bagpipes on stage, mirroring their original recording from their debut album. Throughout the performance, Davis led the crowd of over 20,000 fans in waving their arms back and forth and pumping their fists, creating a breathtaking display of synchronized movement. To elevate the energy even further, the band included a snippet of Metallica’s “One.”
The show wrapped up with a brilliant rendition of “Freak On a Leash,” as Davis expressed at the end of the song: “Phoenix, thank you all so much, we love each and every one of you. You’re an incredible crowd, and we promise to come back soon to perform for you all.”
These Phoenix fans will surely be back for Korn’s return, eager to fill the venue once more for another sold-out performance.
