It was a Wednesday night, and the "Cheeky Freaky" Tour rolled into town. I was anticipating a high-energy show, and what I got was exactly that—a high-energy night from start to finish.
All five bands—Mz Neon, Tony & The Kiki, Princess Superstar, Dead on a Sunday, and, of course, the one and only Lords of Acid—delivered dynamic performances for the midweek crowd. The atmosphere felt like a rave, a goth-industrial club, and a rock concert all rolled into one.
As Lords of Acid hit the stage at the historic Nile Theater, they kicked off their set with the fan favorite "Scrood Bi U."
Carla Harvey (of Butcher Babies and The Violent Hour), with her long raven hair, immediately launched into her signature headbanging. She commanded the stage with sultry movements, moving effortlessly to the music while enticing the audience with provocative lyrics.
Praga Khan, the only remaining original member of Lords of Acid, worked his magic on the synthesizers, while Dietrich Thrall crushed the low end on bass.
Jack Tankersley provided the band's raw industrial edge with his Zemaitis guitar, and Galen Waling drove the beat as he pounded away on the drum kit.
The band performed their latest single, "Dream Boy," which was released on May 15, 2026. It is the second single from their upcoming album, Acid Reign. I believe it will be in heavy rotation on future tours, just like many of their other fan favorites. They also played the yet-to-be-released third single, "El Mundo Está Loco," which features Tony & The Kiki, who had performed earlier in the evening.
One of the most memorable moments of the night came during "Pussy," when Carla invited all the ladies in the audience to join the band onstage to dance and sing along.
Then came "Rubber Doll," during which two inflatable sex dolls were tossed into the crowd and batted around like beach balls at a summer concert.
The band closed out the main set with a mix of "Rough Sex," "Take Control," and "Crablouse." After a brief pause to catch their breath, they returned for an encore featuring "Out Comes the Evil" and their absolute number-one song, "I Sit on Acid."
What an incredible night! The audience was exhilarated after five dynamic performances and an evening filled with mayhem and magic.
"Cheeky Freaky" isn’t just an excellent name for a tour; it embodies the lifestyle of this Belgian band.
