This concert was nothing short of spectacular—brilliant lights, stunning pyrotechnics, mesmerizing dancers, and an energy that kept the audience moving from the very first note to the last encore. On this sweltering, humid July night in the Arizona desert, the relentless heat outside mirrored the electrifying atmosphere within the venue. In fact, it felt like the temperature soared with every band that took the stage.
Static Dress set the stage ablaze while the sun still cast its glow, as concertgoers made their way into the amphitheater. Their captivating opening act confidently established their presence, creating an unforgettable atmosphere for the evening.
Next up was the melodic metalcore powerhouse, Fit for a King. Their musicianship left the audience in awe, with the guitar work undeniably remarkable. Bassist Ryan "Tuck" O'Leary elevated the excitement with thrilling split-jumps from the raised stage, complemented by impressive bass spins that perfectly matched the band's relentless energy.
Lorna Shore:
As Lorna Shore took the stage, the energy reached exhilarating new heights. They kicked off with their powerful anthem, “To the Hellfire,” and it wasn’t long before crowd surfers emerged from the throng of fans, making their way to the front barrier where security skillfully ensured their safety. Vocalist Will Ramos unleashed his fierce, signature vocals, while guitarist Adam De Micco displayed intricate, blistering fretwork that underscored Lorna Shore's position at the forefront of today’s deathcore scene. Thick clouds of smoke and deep red lighting further enhanced the band's dark, theatrical atmosphere.
Motionless In White:
Finally, the moment that the Arizona crowd had been eagerly waiting for arrived. As the lights dimmed, the venue erupted with electric anticipation as Motionless In White burst onto the stage, kicking off with their high-energy opener, “Sign of Life.”
The production was nothing short of spectacular:
A gigantic LED video wall created a stunning backdrop.
Additional screens flanked the stage, making sure every fan felt included in the experience.
A towering drum riser loomed over the band, complemented by massive cube-like platforms that allowed the guitarists and bassist to display their incredible talents from impressive heights.
Chris Motionless commanded the stage with remarkable charisma and unwavering confidence, captivating the audience throughout the entire show. The pyrotechnics were astonishing, with flames soaring nearly 30 feet into the air, presenting a visual feast that only a major rock performance can deliver. Staying true to the industrial theme, dancers wore welder’s goggles, generating brilliant showers of sparks as they operated handheld angle grinders against metal plates strapped to their waists. This striking visual effect beautifully enhanced the band's dark, cinematic style.
Concert Highlights
Two remarkable moments from the show truly captured my attention. Motionless in White's electrifying rendition of Corey Hart's iconic 1980s hit “Sunglasses at Night” was absolutely outstanding. I had heard Chris Motionless express his desire to record this song for years, and it became clear why—it blended seamlessly with the band's distinctive style, adding a thrilling new edge. Another unforgettable highlight was “Not My Type,” which transformed the venue into a spine-tingling Halloween-inspired spectacle, making the performance genuinely extraordinary.
The band concluded the night with the explosive version “Scoring the End of the World,” followed by the poignant closing track, “Eternally Yours.” They poured their hearts into the performance, and the audience eagerly sang along with every lyric, matching the band's energy right up to the final note.
Motionless in White delivered one of the most mesmerizing concerts I've seen this year. If they come to your city, don’t miss the chance to don your "Sunglasses at Night" and experience one of the best live shows in modern metal.
