Once Bitten Concert Review, The Marquee Theater – Tempe AZ – September 9 2025

A Rocking Friday Night at the Marquee Theater in Tempe AZ

The Marquee Theater was the ultimate destination on a Friday night, hosting an exciting evening of Hard Rock music. The highlight of the night was Once Bitten, who paid tribute to the legendary 80s rock band, Great White. The event also showcased an impressive array of local talent, featuring Color of Chaos, Escape The Hive, Revolutionary Development, and Show & Tell.

Color of Chaos kicked off the evening with their radio-friendly tunes, impressive vocals, and exceptional musicianship, setting a high standard for a night filled with outstanding Hard Rock music.

Each of the local acts gave the Tempe audience their unique spin on the Hard Rock genre with Show & Tell giving a nod to the late great Ozzy Osbourne with a great cover of the Ozzy Classic “Bark at the Moon.”

After much anticipation, Once Bitten burst onto the stage, captivating the Tempe audience right from the start. Formerly known as Jack Russell’s Great White, the band now pays tribute to the late, great Jack Russell. Featuring members from Jack Russell’s Great White, this is far more than just a tribute act; the essence of Great White is embedded in their music.

Their setlist was packed with numerous Great White classics, including fan favorites like “Lady Redlight,” “Rock Me,” and, of course, the timeless hit “Once Bitten Twice Shy,” which had a full volume Marquee Theater sing-along.

There were too many highlights this night to mention but the band’s performance was, of course, energized by a plethora of Great White classics, featuring hits like “Desert Moon and Stick It, and when the band launched into their timeless classic, “Save Your Love,” which is one of my favorites  – they had the entire crowd singing along to every word.

Once Bitten serves as the ultimate tribute to Great White, and for any fan of the band’s music, their show is an absolute must-see. However, on this occasion, an overly intrusive “Go Pro” style photographer was on stage, which somewhat overshadowed the band’s performance. I mention this as he was constantly darting around on stage and in front of each band member, which diminished the overall experience. I hope this was an isolated incident, and that other shows are free from such distractions.

Once Bitten and the music of Great White take us back to a time rich with the electrifying sounds of 80s rock. If you are a fan of their music, I sincerely recommend attending one of the Once Bitten shows whenever possible. It’s a wonderful chance to celebrate the legacy of a band that significantly influenced the Hard Rock music scene.
