The tour known as “The Heaviest Tour of The Summer” showcased the iconic heavy metal legends Pantera, with support from the Swedish melodic death metal titans Amon Amarth, and featuring the opening act King Parrot. This sold-out concert occurred at the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater in Phoenix, AZ, on August 26, 2025, right in the heart of the unpredictable monsoon season.

Australian grindcore band King Parrot kicked off the evening around seven o’clock, as daylight faded into dusk. Despite the lingering light, King Parrot unleashed a high-octane performance that immediately ignited the Phoenix crowd. Frontman Matthew “Youngy” Young addressed the audience before their second song, saying, “We are about one month into this tour, and you guys have given us the greatest welcome so far; thank you, Phoenix!” King Parrot delivered a brief yet impactful seven-song set that undoubtedly won them some new fans.

Amon Amarth:

Amon Amarth delivered a powerful nine-song set that kicked off with the fan favorite, “Guardians of Asgaard.” Following the second track, lead singer Johan Hegg engaged the Phoenix audience by asking, “Are you ready to party like Vikings?” Of course, when you’re with AA, you want to celebrate like a Viking, which elicited a thunderous cheer from the audience, complete with raised horns! As the performance progressed, the audience responded by pumping their fists, chanting, and cheering along with every directive from Hegg. Before launching into the eighth song, “Raise Your Horns,” Hegg took a moment to express gratitude to Pantera for bringing them on this fantastic tour, as well as to thank the Phoenix crowd for their incredible energy. At the end of their final song, “Twilight of theThunder God,” the band members stepped to the front of the stage to toss out drumsticks and guitar picks, showing appreciation for the audience’s support.

Pantera:

The headlining metal legends, Pantera, took the stage with a dominating presence, bombarding the Phoenix crowd with the first three songs; “Suicide Note Part II,” “Hellbound,” and “5 Minutes Alone.” Fans immediately surged towards the front, with cascades of crowd surfing from the start until after the third song lead singer Phil Anselmo paused to address the audience, saying, “We have to take a pause due to the shitty weather.” At that moment, the Arizona monsoon unleashed its fury upon the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater, bringing a fierce storm of lightning, rain, and wind that delayed the show for nearly 50 minutes. Once the storm subsided, the band returned to the stage, resuming where they left off with the fan favorite, “Strength Beyond Strength.”

Phil Anselmo – Pantera

Before launching into the song “Becoming,” Phil Anselmo expressed his appreciation for the diverse crowd, highlighting the mix of older fans who knew the lyrics and the enthusiastic youth who were filled with energy. The band delved deep into their catalog, performing the rare track “I’ll Cast a Shadow,” which hadn’t been played since 2001. For their iconic song “Walk,” they were joined by metal giants Max Cavalera, Phil Rind, and members of Amon Amarth and King Parrot.

The band concluded their set with “Domination / Hollow” and “Fucking Hostile” as the crowd erupted into chants of PANTERA, PANTERA, PANTERA. The members then expressed their gratitude to the Phoenix fans by tossing out guitar picks, drumsticks, and drum heads. Before exiting the stage, lead vocalist Anselmo delivered the final line of the Zeppelin classic, “Stairway to Heaven,” before walking off.

Pantera delivered an unforgettable performance for the Phoenix audience, featuring Phil Anselmo and bassist Rex Brown who were joined by drummer Charlie Benante and guitarist Zakk Wylde, on this tour to honor the legacy of of Pantera’s founding members, Dime Bag Darrell and Vinnie Paul, celebrating the legendary status of Pantera.
