Queensryche, just off the heels of the Monsters of Rock Cruise, will be joining the Scorpions on their upcoming 50th Anniversary 2015 North American tour, which stops in Los Angeles at the Forum on October 3, 2015.

During the busy schedule of recording a new CD which is being fan funded by their “Building the Empire” pledge drive on PledgeMusic and to be released on Century Media Records later this year, Queensryche brought their progressive heavy metal to Anaheim on Friday night March 27 at House of Blues for a standing room only show.

Details of the Pledge Music Campaign can be found here.

The night began with Gabbie Rae, a 16  year old artist, who performed an impressive set of mostly covers and one original. With her high energy show, she proved that she was the right choice to get the crowd going for a night of classic metal.

Next up was Leatherwolf, the Huntington Beach local Metal Heroes, with frontman Michael Olivieri commanding the hometown crowd with his powerful vocals, and his band of great musicians.  They treated the hometown crowd to their own special brand of metal.  To quote one of the fans at the show: “ Leatherwolf was Smoking Hot!”.

With all the controversy and media attention surrounding  Queensryche, the crowd was in manic anticipation as the band stormed the stage and tore into the first song, Nightrider. Todd La Torre has brought the fire back to this band with his amazing energy and the ability to sing all the songs as they should be; with technical precision especially the high notes. The band played a scorching set combining Queensryche classics along with new material off their 2013 album titled Queensryche. Their current line-up consists of founding members Michael Wilton (guitar), Eddie Jackson (bass), and Scott Rockefield (drums), alongside guitarist Parker Lundgren, and new singer Todd LaTorre.

There were many show highlights including “The Lady Wore Black” and “Silent Lucidity” which had the entire audience singing along to every word, as well as the amazing guitar solos with Michael Wilton and Parker Lundgren. Just when the crowd thought it could not get any better the band pulled out “Jet City Woman” as part of their encore.

With the amazing musicianship of the band and La Torre’s ability to sing all the songs as they should be, there is no question that this is the REAL Queensryche.
